As previously disclosed in Marqeta’s Registration Statement on Form S-1 in connection with its initial public offering, Chief Revenue Officer Darren Mowry has joined Marqeta as the newest member of Marqeta’s executive team. Darren joined Marqeta at the start of June and will head up Marqeta’s global revenue and sales organization.
Darren is an executive with 25 years of experience leading business teams focused on harnessing the power of technology to drive innovation and transformation. Before joining Marqeta, he led Amazon Web Services in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) where he was charged with expanding and scaling AWS across the region, and defining and leading AWS specialization in vertical industries, market segments, and strategic functions. In his nearly 10 years with AWS, he held leadership roles in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordics, and built one of the company’s first customer-facing field sales organizations, which he led for a number of years across North America.
Prior to AWS, Darren spent nearly a decade at Microsoft in multiple leadership positions, worked in management and systems consulting at Accenture, and played a role in building (and later selling) a boutique internet strategy consulting firm to Dell.
Darren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from The University of Alabama and a graduate specialization and certification in Change Management and Organizational Design from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. He will be based out of Washington D.C. and will split his time between there and London.
