Marqeta is the Oakland Roots official fintech partner

Oakland Roots Sports Club today announced Marqeta as the Club’s official fintech partner. Marqeta will support the Roots Kick Back community Initiative.

Marqeta has a strong commitment to the Oakland community through its recently established Marqeta Cares program. This program focuses on expanding support for community organizations advancing diversity and inclusion and providing meaningful career opportunities, increasing access to technology, and closing the education gap for underserved communities. We’re excited to collectively support our communities through this sponsorship,” said Steven Powell, Chief Revenue Officer of Oakland Roots Sports Club.

As an official Roots partner, Marqeta will also support the Roots Kick Back program, developed to assist in meeting the needs of various local charities serving at-risk and disadvantaged children in the region. Through Marqeta’s support of the Kick Back program, seats are being donated to six local children’s charities nominated by Marqeta. Marqeta’s valuable donation allows these children an opportunity to enjoy a positive morale-building experience at Laney Stadium for Oakland Roots games. Roots encourage participating charities to establish good citizenship and educational incentives as a means of selecting which children will attend each game.
