Marqeta Europe’s work in helping card programme partners realise their market expansion ambitions has been recognised by a leading industry awards scheme.

Building on our reputation for empowering payments innovators to seamlessly launch card programmes in new international territories, we’ve scooped the Best Market Expansion Programme title in this year’s Emerging Payments Awards.

The accolade acknowledges our achievements with partners including SME lending solution Capital on Tap and Moss, the German corporate credit card and expense management specialist.

We’ve supported these fantastic brands’ objectives to grow with our open API card issuing and payment processing platform, which gives developers the tools they need to build, test, launch and iterate single integration card programmes across national boundaries.

Capital on Tap launched in 2012 and is focused on providing access to much-needed financial support for small and medium-sized businesses through its innovative business credit card proposition as well as helping small businesses by simplifying their expenses and consolidating all their business spend. In less than a decade, the company reports that it has distributed over £4bn worth of finance to more than 120,000 UK SMEs. Undeterred by a global pandemic, it also successfully launched into the U.S. earlier this year.

Marqeta has played a key role in this exciting growth story by providing Capital on Tap with the capability to replicate and tailor its B2B credit card proposition for new markets – and in doing so, avoid having to build a new card programme from scratch each time it expands.

Moss, meanwhile, is leaving no stone unturned as it rolls across Europe, serving a rapidly growing number of start-ups and SMEs. The Berlin-based technology company, which combines a modern corporate credit card with holistic financial management software, states that it allows businesses to manage their expenses effectively and reduce time spent on accounting by up to 30%. Moss’s use of 3DS also gives it an advantage in regions that support this standard.

At Marqeta, one of our aims is to remove barriers that might prevent our partners from offering transformative financial products, international borders being no exception. It’s great then to be recognised for doing just that as the Best Market Expansion Programme winner in this year’s Emerging Payments Awards.

If your innovation roadmap includes overseas market expansion (and it should), then it’s well worth registering for Going Global: how to win at international expansion with FinTech Alliance and Marqeta. Taking place on November 3, 2021, between 5pm and 8pm at the Marqeta offices in London, an expert panel will help you: learn how to prioritise prospective markets; get to grips with local regulation; and understand how to evaluate a technology partner.
