Marqeta welcomes Celeste Narganes as VP of DE&I

We’re thrilled to welcome Celeste Narganes to our team as our new Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I). Celeste is an experienced People Operations leader, joining Marqeta from HubSpot, and will lead Marqeta’s DE&I strategy and team, focusing on creating a meaningful impact for those who need it most and ensuring equitable experiences for all Marqetans. 

“Celeste stands out as an inspirational leader with extensive experience developing DE&I and recruiting functions from the ground up, and we’re thrilled to have her leading our DE&I efforts at Marqeta,” says Sunaina (Suni) Lobo, CHRO at Marqeta. “We recognize the work that still needs to be done and are committed to embedding DE&I into everything we do as a company. Celeste will play a key role in elevating our DE&I program and driving a strategy that promotes our values and enables a thriving diverse and equitable workforce.”

During her time at HubSpot, Celeste helped build and diversify the company’s executive ranks and built and led several teams, including recruiting and DE&I throughout a major period of growth over the past five years. Celeste also has 15 years of experience working with and consulting leaders across various industries as a strategic management consultant at McKinsey and The Bridgespan Group, along with five years of experience as a front-line social worker working with children and their families. Celeste attended Holy Cross College in Massachusetts and later earned her Master’s degree from Columbia University in New York City.

When asked about her new role Celeste said, “I’m excited to join Marqeta and have the opportunity to work alongside this incredibly talented group as we continue to establish Marqeta as a culture of inclusion and belonging. In partnership with our leadership team, we will focus on creating communities and safe spaces, embedding inclusion across all our work, developing inclusive people managers, and holding ourselves accountable to the hard work it will take to accomplish our DE&I goals.”
