Manager, Information Technology Asset Management

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Asset Management to lead enterprise-wide technology asset governance and lifecycle management programs. This role will establish comprehensive asset management frameworks, drive strategic initiatives to reduce technology debt and SaaS sprawl, and ensure optimal utilization of software and hardware assets across the organization. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to implement robust governance processes that support cybersecurity requirements, compliance objectives, and operational efficiency.

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Asset Lifecycle Management & Governance
    • Develop and implement comprehensive asset lifecycle management programs covering all technology assets from procurement through disposal.
    • Establish and maintain governance frameworks, processes, and systems to ensure accurate and comprehensive inventory of all Marqeta technology assets.
    • Design and execute asset tagging strategies that support inventory requirements, risk classification, and decision-making processes.
    • Create standardized asset management policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Partner with Architecture Review Board, Cybersecurity, Procurement, and Finance teams in overall governance design.
    • Collaborate with procurement teams to implement pre-procurement technology request approval processes.
  • Asset Inventory Design
    • Partner with cybersecurity, IT operations, and business stakeholders to collect and analyze asset inventory requirements.
    • Ensure asset inventory systems provide meaningful data views, accurate risk classifications, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Software Asset Optimization & SaaS Management
    • Develop and execute comprehensive software management strategies to eliminate shadow IT and reduce duplicative capabilities.
    • Lead SaaS sprawl management initiatives to optimize software licensing, reduce costs, and improve security posture.
    • Implement software asset governance programs that ensure compliance with licensing agreements and usage policies.
    • Establish metrics and reporting frameworks to track software utilization, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Technology Debt Reduction & Strategic Planning
    • Proactively identify and manage end-of-life (EOL) and end-of-support (EOS) assets across all technology categories.
    • Develop strategic roadmaps for technology refresh cycles and asset modernization initiatives.
    • Lead laptop lifecycle management programs including imaging, deployment, and retirement processes.
    • Create comprehensive asset management dashboards and reporting to support executive decision-making.

Who You Are

  • Education & Certifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
    • Relevant certifications such as ITIL Foundation, Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), or IT Asset Management certifications preferred
  • Experience Requirements
    • 10+ years of experience in IT asset management, software asset management, or related technology operations roles with 1+ years of experience leading teams
    • Proven track record managing enterprise-scale asset management programs and governance initiatives
    • Experience with asset management tools, CMDB systems, and inventory management platforms
    • Demonstrated success in SaaS management, software licensing optimization, and technology lifecycle planning
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency with asset management platforms (ServiceNow, JIRA, Oomnitza, or similar ITAM tools)
    • Strong knowledge of software licensing models, compliance requirements, and vendor management
    • Experience with cloud asset management (preferably AWS), tagging strategies, and automated discovery tools
    • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and how asset management supports security objectives
  • Leadership & Business Skills
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
    • Proven stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
    • Strong communication abilities with experience presenting to executive leadership
    • Financial acumen for cost optimization, budget management, and ROI analysis
    • Change management experience and ability to drive process improvements across the organization
    • A strong bias toward action and ability to operate proactively and effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • High ethical standards and a commitment to promoting a strong security culture

Nice-To-Haves

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or highly regulated industries
  • Experience with enterprise architecture or architecture review boards
  • Project management certifications (PMP, Agile) are advantageous

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. 

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position, reflected in CAD, is: 108,200 - 135,200.
