Engineering Manager

Position Summary

As an Engineering Manager with the Disputes Team, you’ll manage a team of engineers building a unified, frictionless and automated Disputes & Chargeback product that integrates multiple networks and unique lifecycles.. You’ll be responsible for day to day execution and delivery of your team and will work with cross-functional partners to build a roadmap, set sprint priorities, and deliver software that is highly available, efficient, and secure. You’ll be intimately familiar with the product, and the underlying code and architecture. You will empower your team to drive technical decisions, while actively participating and driving those discussions.

By being accountable for your team's output, you’ll collect and refine metrics around product delivery and move the team in the right direction. You’ll encourage a culture where everyone's perspective is valued and you can productively manage conflicts when they arise.

You’ll champion engineering excellence and hold a high bar while recruiting and promoting top talent within your team.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a team of engineers across multiple projects within a product group
  • Establish and promote best practices across cross-functional teams
  • Hold regular one-on-ones, career growth conversations and reviews. / Initiate conversations around goal setting and give regular feedback and coaching
  • Collaborate effectively with Product to influence the roadmap, prioritize projects and implement KPIs.
  • Own your team's goals and objectives, and work cross functionally to enable your team to execute on large scope projects.
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to develop execution timelines for your team’s projects.
  • Help establish a culture of  delivering quality software and services 
  • Lead large, complex projects; facilitate working sessions to understand and refine scope with stakeholders and deliver execution plans and timelines
  • Represent your team at different levels of the organization, and partner with leadership to bring visibility into the inner workings of your team. 
  • Partner with our recruiting teams to identify and hire the right talent for your team - interview and sell candidates, build a network, assist in headcount planning, etc!

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years of experience with an advanced degree.  In lieu of a degree, 11+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
  • 3+ years of people management experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage performance of ICs to maintain high productivity and morale.
  • Exceptional engineering skills and experience with large scale online and offline services.
  • Ability to advocate for your team. Provide support and remove obstacles to keep your team focused and productive.
  • Experience recruiting, maintaining, and promoting a world-class and diverse engineering team.
  • Outstanding communication skills; You thrive on continuous and bidirectional feedback.
  • Experience building monitoring, alerting, and incident management tools, dashboards and processes.Have experience managing teams developing and scaling microservices using modern cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Experience with AWS preferred.
  • Exposure to our modern Java backend stack using Spring Boot or a similar framework, Kubernetes on AWS 
  • Experience developing execution plans and tracking milestones.
  • Experience with agile software development.
  • Practiced expertise using Scrum to drive high team velocity and satisfaction
