Senior Program Manager, Bank Partner Strategy & Operations

Position Summary

The Global Bank Partner Strategy & Operations Team is responsible for developing partnerships that produce mutually beneficial results. This team plays a vital role in delivering our vision to the market given bank partners are strategic enablers for Marqeta’s growth. The key to this role will be to understand the banking landscape, payments, and the ability to align internal stakeholders while leading the relationship with a strategic bank partner. You’ll be collaborating closely with the Marqeta extended team, including Business Development, Customer Success, Product, Compliance, Legal, and Tech, etc.

Marqeta is looking for a Sr. Partnership Manager who is a quick learner and can hit the ground running to learn our Partner landscape; managing the Partner to drive efficiencies in processes and output and set strategy. This individual should be a proactive thought-leader in service to our customers and internal stakeholders. We seek someone that collaborates cross-functionally to gain alignment as we focus on continual Partnership growth on a global scale. This individual needs to translate initiatives and movement across leadership levels and roles to drive progress with the relationship. We’re looking for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to see both immediate and big-picture.

What You'll Do

This role is about optimizing Partner Operations support throughout Marqeta and driving Marqeta success with our strategic partners. This role requires a dynamic professional that is extremely detail oriented and takes initiative to engage cross-functionally. You have an opportunity for tremendous impact as we scale the business.

Partner Operations and Process:

  • Lead daily relationships with key Marqeta Partner(s) including prioritizing efforts and collaborating across teams. Ability to manage overall strategic Partner initiatives along with tactical operations developments including daily issues/escalations
  • Act as the key connector between the Partner and Marqeta to ensure the organization has a clear understanding of requirements to optimize a successful partnership
  • Prioritize partner initiatives across the organization to align with the overall Marqeta growth strategy
  • Continuous proactive partnership management including QBRs and driving new product initiatives 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with both the Partner and internal stakeholders to build trust, progress initiatives, consider regulatory requirements and provide transparency
  • Develop and drive new/improved processes while anticipating potential roadblocks and implementing long-term solutions
  • Manage contract negotiations, terms and pricing
  • Collaborate regularly with the rest of the Global Bank Partner Strategy & Operations team to foster cross-education and drive implementation of efficiencies across all bank partnerships
  • Gather, organize and present KPI data on partners relationship status and value
  • Ensure Marqeta is staying ahead in the industry and with our competition to continue to drive revenue opportunities. This involves cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholders to unlock new verticals and Marqeta specific features.

What We're Looking For

  • Role to be based in UK
  • Flexibility with schedule given working for US company based in California (though will work to respect time zones)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8-12 years Account Management or Partnership Management experience
  • 2-5 years payments experience
  • Contract and pricing negotiation experience
  • Foundation of integrity and strong character to consistently represent Marqeta’s values
  • Ownership/accountability for assigned partners and initiatives
  • Ability to prioritize, manage and deliver on multiple projects; highly motivated and able to work against aggressive timelines
  • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high-quality, data-driven deliverables
  • Solid communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, presentation, written) Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across different functions and levels, both internally and with partners.
  • Ability to travel: 10 - 20%
