Senior Product Manager, Processing

Position Summary

Join Marqeta’s core processing platform team and help us transform payments and help launch new products. Our system supports everything related to card issuance, transaction processing and supporting add-on services. Our modern platform and open API enables custom configurations of card product features that deliver the speed and agility that digital-first banks and fintechs need to diversify and scale in this dynamic sector. The team is looking for an innovative, experienced senior product manager with a passion for customer needs, a desire to develop and launch industry-leading innovative products, and an innate interest in financial technology. This person will be responsible for building one or more of our processing product capabilities, operations and onboarding of existing and new features and products within our core product offerings. Your passion and attention to detail will help identify and drive new capabilities to give more flexibility to our customers in the areas of card issuing and processing, platform scaling and other quality initiatives.  

You will be accountable for implementing a feedback loop with our customers to drive our prioritization and planning cycles. You will create business cases for potential features and initiatives to ensure that the team focuses on delivering maximum value on a short timeline. 

You will also generate support content like product usage and metrics for internal and external stakeholders to help explain the nuance of our systems and the insights we have gained from building our solutions. You will find opportunities to use streamlined processes, metrics, better tools, and more efficient ways of supporting product change and influencing the roadmap.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish, drive and continuously improve processes that ensure our customers and customer-facing teams are informed of and well-prepared for product-driven changes. Use data and when missing, enable a data-driven decision-making process for making decisions and improving products.
  • Create and manage product strategies, roadmaps, project plans, and product specifications. Develop deep expertise on our product, market, and competitors.
  • You are a self-starter and are able to and fully expected to get your hands dirty, go get the data and build a narrative.
  • Data proficiency is critical, including but not limited to being proficient with data querying, analysis tools, and technologies (e.g. SQL, Looker, Tableau, Snowflake).
  • Assure that functional stakeholders are aligned on key objectives for product changes -- spanning partnerships with customer success, business development, legal, compliance, product marketing, customer service, finance, delivery, etc.
  • Help build operational playbooks that define how we launch various products, define the construct and get stakeholder + partner approvals, and how we proceed to migrate products from Experimentation (Alpha) > Launch (Beta) > Scale (General Availability).
  • Create feedback channels that ensure problem areas are identified during testing and in launching beta programs. 
  • Identify new metrics as the product develops, hypothesizing the right levers to measure and working with the data team to adjust as needed. Use metrics to communicate progress to leadership and executive teams. 
  • Be the voice of our customers during product development and performance tracking. Track and categorize customer escalation pain points from various sources (e.g. our customer’s servicing teams, our bank partners, and CRM ticketing platforms).
  • Collaborate with revenue, operations, and partnerships teams to gain inputs to assess market opportunity, customer demand, and impact, to build business cases, and drive the priority of product features.

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years experience as a product manager, product operations or equivalent experience successfully shipping or deploying payments products
  • Creative product thinker who loves collaborating across the company with engineering, analytics, marketing, design and sales
  • 3+ years of cross-functional project management and leadership experience
  • Ability to synthesize data from multiple data sources to inform and support critical decisions about the product strategy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems
  • Excellent technical acumen, curiosity, and familiarity with new technologies, API’s, programming languages, and databases
  • Experience building trusted partnerships with product and engineering teams
  • Experience with and strong ability to formulate and present analyses and business cases to both technical and non-technical stakeholders


  • Experience building products within a cards / payments / ledger / regulatory environment.
  • Experience with product operation
  • Experience taking product from beta to general availability
