Who we are
Marqeta helps companies build and manage payment solutions that meet the unique needs of their business. Our modern technology, support services and extensive partnership network give our customers the control to build innovative product experiences using our platform and APIs. We work with companies who want to leverage our card issuing and processing technology to launch new digital services, modernize existing payment operations and optimize payment efficiencies. Our platform and APIs are designed to offer a broad feature set to support a wide range of use cases across many market sectors and multiple countries including the US, Canada, UK, EU, and soon APAC and LATAM.

What we do
Marqeta is a financial technology company that’s known in the world of payments as an issuer processor. Our platform, APIs and deep integrations with issuing banks and card networks make it possible for our customers to issue cards (physical, virtual and tokenized) and manage each transaction as our platform processes those transactions reliably at peak performance. Our customers use our platform and RESTful APIs to develop highly configurable payment card programs that meet the unique needs of their business. Our technology enables instant card issuing, payment authorization decisioning at the point-of-sale, cardholder data security, in-app provisioning directly to digital wallets, deep data insights and analytics, fraud monitoring, and real-time card funding with our exclusive Just-in-Time (JIT) funding feature.
Marqeta has undergone a lengthy process of integration and certification with numerous banks and card networks. We have extensive partnerships with many issuing banks which helps us find the best issuing partner for the custom card programs that our customers require. We have direct integrations with Visa, Mastercard and Discover, and are certified by the card networks for speed, accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance. As an issuer processor we provide the system of record, manage the issuance of cards, authorize transactions, communicate with settlement entities and adhere to the regulations and compliance standards in every country in which we operate.
Marqeta is also a full service Program Manager. This means that in addition to issuing cards and processing transactions, we manage the card program on behalf of the issuing bank for our customers (the bank contracts directly with the Program Manager). The Program Manager is responsible for defining the program, marketing to consumers and merchants, operating the program, and managing its profitability. The issuing bank also looks to the Program Manager to manage compliance with card network rules and regulations.
In addition to issuing, processing, and program manager, we also offer a variety of managed services that include dispute management, fraud scoring, card fulfillment, KYC management, and cardholder support services.
