We are seeking an accomplished and detail-oriented Senior FP&A Analyst to focus on forecasting potential new customers to join our finance team. As a key contributor, you will play a critical role in analyzing and forecasting the financial impact of acquiring new customers and expanding our business. In this integral role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, go-to-market, and executive leadership, to provide insights and recommendations to drive revenue growth and optimize customer acquisition strategies. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in financial analysis, customer forecasting, and a proven track record of delivering accurate and actionable insights.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast the potential financial impact of acquiring new customers and expanding the customer base through forecasting interchange, network fees, bank fees, and other operating expenses while integrating our pricing models / strategies
  • Collaborate with finance and analytics teams to gather data and insights to support accurate customer forecasts
  • Facilitate deal review meetings with sales leaders to evaluate the impact of new customers, including anticipated revenue and gross profit
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop customer acquisition targets and metrics, offering insights and recommendations to optimize sales strategies
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators related to customer acquisition, providing regular, insightful reporting to executive leadership
  • Conduct scenario analysis to assess the financial impact of different customer acquisition strategies and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work in tandem with the FP&A planning team to integrate customer forecasts into overall financial planning and budgeting processes
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to provide insights on potential customer acquisition opportunities and risks

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on customer forecasting and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret complex financial and customer data
  • Expert proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting techniques
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in other MS Office applications and experience with Google suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate and high-quality work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous process improvement and identifying efficiencies]

Nice-To-Haves

  • Experience in payments (credit cards in particular), fintech or SaaS industry
  • Credit card portfolio modeling / experience
  • SQL / data analytics experience

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $81,600 - $108,800
  • Premium: $91,800 - $122,400
  • Premium Plus: $102,000 - $136,000
