Position Summary

Marqeta is hiring for a Senior Business & Risk Analyst - Data role to join the Risk Product Team. As the Senior Business & Risk Analyst, you will have a diverse set of responsibilities spanning Marqeta’s data, customer risk & fraud capabilities, bank & network compliance, legal regulations and more. You will partner with cross functional teams such as Compliance, Data Science, Engineering, Legal and Risk Operations to strategize how to best manage fraud and risk for Marqeta, our customers, and our ecosystem partners. You will also be working closely with Marqeta’s customers to help devise strategies and execute tactics that will allow the entire ecosystem to unlock growth through Marqeta’s RiskControl suite of products.

This role can be performed in a hybrid work model (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday onsite) from our Warsaw office.  We’d love for you to join us!

What You’ll Do

  • Work with diverse internal teams and customers to understand payment card programs, with a specific emphasis on fraud and money laundering concerns for unique market segments;
  • Work directly with customers to understand their business requirements, develop fine-tuned rules and share best practices in order to drive risk-aware growth; 
  • Work with programs onboarding RiskControl to develop, test, and deploy rule sets tailored to their fraud and money laundering concerns;
  • Be domain subject matter expert and provide ongoing product support to customers;
  • Analyze the performance of customer’s risk & fraud capabilities in order to make tailored recommendations to improve their risk & fraud performance
  • Keep a pulse on industry best practices around payment fraud and risk;   
  • Work with Data Science team to identify new product opportunities; identify new sources of data capabilities that can help both Marqeta and its customers in managing fraud and risk;
  • Convert product roadmap into requirements; Help the broader product & engineering team to execute on those requirements & launch new products and features;
  • Develop a deep understanding of the hundreds of data attributes available within Marqeta’s open API and ecosystem of data;
  • Assess the current state of data capabilities & developing a roadmap for the desired future state;
  • Convert existing data capabilities into new product opportunities. 
  • Define product metrics, build reporting, and monitor performance; Leverage data to drive decisioning making;
  • Provide subject matter expertise to identify and define business needs and requirements to support the development and implementation of future operational/technical risk solutions;
  • Enable a delightful customer experience, Have a customer first approach;
  • Participate in project definition and idea generation, work on collaborative projects with partners across the globe with a focus on the Risk/Fraud mitigation;

What we are looking for

  • 2-3 years of experience in business analysis or product management and development; experience in maturing products already on the market;
  • Good understanding of data analysis and visualization tools that may include, but are not limited to, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python (or R), and Tableau (or Looker)
  • Bachelor degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or other quantitative field;
  • Proven track record of applying analytical/statistical methods, rule writing, and testing to actualize real-world, data-driven problem solving;
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced and dynamic environment requiring a high degree of personal accountability, quality, accuracy, integrity and trust;
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment;
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills with all levels of the organization, as well as senior executives and customers;
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to build partnerships and alliances internally and with external partners at all levels of the organization
