As Marqeta’s VP, Mid-Market Sales, you will manage managers of teams composed of sales executives and account management experts that work very closely with cross-functional teams at Marqeta. You will set the strategy to meet your sector/vertical quarterly goals by expanding existing client programs and delivering new partners. You will mentor, develop and help your leadership team grow from managers of teams in Business Development to organizational leaders and culture carriers.

You will lead the Mid-Market sales Sector ($250M - $10B in Revenue) and partner closely with the most innovative companies in North America to deliver Modern Card Issuing and Processing solutions that help end customers manage their finances and build wealth and economic stability.  Marqeta is powering a transformation in payments as companies transition to providing innovative embedded financial solutions for their customers.  You and your teams will advise Fortune 500 prospects and customers on the shifting payments landscape, potential ways to innovate in the space, derive increased value from the movement of money, and increase customer loyalty. 

Businesses that partner with Marqeta vary by category, market cap, and complexity, requiring the profile of its employees to be curious, understand our client's economics (arbitrage, etc.), and be willing to problem-solve in teams. Your knowledge of finance/payments, combined with your communication skills and analytical abilities, will design and deliver Marqeta’s GTM sales and service strategies. Using your relationship-building skills, you provide exceptional leadership to your teams, provide client service, and use innovative approaches to capture revenue and deliver workable solutions for customers. You anticipate how decisions are made, map accounts strategically, and align resources based on your knowledge of customer dynamics.  You persistently explore and uncover the business needs of Marqeta’s prospects and key clients to understand how our product offerings can grow their business. Working with partners and your teams, you set the vision and the strategy for how Marqeta’s Modern Card Issuing can help their end users.

 

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland Office. We’d love for you to join us!

 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new and manage existing Card Issuing, Processing and banking solutions for Fortune 500 customers in the Mid-Market Sales Vertical ($250M - $10B in Revenue). Cultivate relationships with CXO level executives at prospects and internal partners inside the company to build a “pipeline” and drive revenue growth.
  • ​​Help your teams deliver quarterly sales plans, goals and joint business plans with key prospects and partners.
  • Coach, manage, and grow a number of sales team leaders that manage client service personnel, analysts and sellers.
  • Build a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and high-performing sales organization by influencing team structure, GTM strategy, culture, and processes.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment with key partner teams, including Sales Engineering, Delivery, GNSO, Revenue Operations, Banking Partnerships and other teams in Mid-Market Sales in the US..
  • Operate as an integral part of the US senior leadership team to deliver V2MoMs, GTM strategies and consistent sales processes.

What We’re Looking For 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in sales, operations, or partner management.
  • 10+ years of experience in managing teams.
  • Experience in building CXO level relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in various industries across retail, finance, travel and services.
  • Ability to work cross functionally within Marqeta and partner successfully to develop creative / innovative solutions for partners.
  • Thought leadership, as demonstrated by industry expertise in Payments, Retail, Fintech and Banking, with an ability to influence in complex situations.
  • Successful track record building vertical GTM strategies to exceed annual and quarterly revenue targets.

Compensation and Benefits in Marqeta’s Revenue Organization

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

Within our Revenue organization at Marqeta, On Target Earnings (OTE) is composed of a mix between annual salary and variable compensation, which is earned based on your individual performance and that of your immediate team.

When determining an OTE figure we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base OTE range for this position is:

  • National: $419,000.00 - $559,000.00 
  • Premium: $441,000.00 - $588,000.00 
  • Premium Plus: $464,000.00 - $619,000.00
